#Budget2024 Highlights so far: #1 π | 12.5% Tax on Long-Term Gains; βΉ1.25 Lakh Exemption -Long-term capital gains on all financial and non-financial assets will attract a tax rate of 12.5%. Additionally, the exemption limit for capital gains will be set at βΉ1.25 lakh per year. #2 π | TDS on E-commerce 0.1%; Higher STT on F&Os 1. TDS rate on e-commerce operators to be reduced to 0.1 percent from 1 percent. 2. #Budget2024 Highlights so far: #1 π | Integrated Tech Platform to Improve IBC Outcomes IBC Focus: An integrated tech platform will be set up to improve outcomes under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC). This platform aims to achieve greater consistency, transparency, and better oversight for all stakeholders, including the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT). The IBC has resolved over 1,000 companies, resulting in a direct recovery of βΉ3.3 lakh crore to creditors. Additionally, 28,000 cases involving over βΉ10 lakh crore have been disposed of before admission. #2 π | Support for Vishnupad, Mahabodhi, Nalanda, and Odisha Tourism - FM Nirmala Sitharaman proposed supporting the development of corridors at Vishnupad Temple and Mahabodhi Temple, following the model of the Kashi Vishwanath Temple. Additionally, the government will back the development of Nalanda in Bihar as a tourist centre. An economic policy framework will be introduced to usher in next-generation reforms to boost economic growth. The government will provide assistance to Odisha for the development of tourism. #3 π | Reducing Basic Customs Duty on Mobile Phones to 15% -The Indian mobile industry has matured and proposed to reduce the Basic Customs Duty (BCD) on mobile phones, mobile PCDA (Printed Circuit Design Assembly), and mobile charges to 15%. #4 π | βΉ11,500 Crore Support for Flood-Affected States -Flood impact: The government will provide financial support with an estimated cost of Rs 11,500 crore. Assam, which grapples with floods yearly, will receive assistance for flood management and related projects. Himachal Pradesh, having suffered extensive losses due to floods, will also receive support for reconstruction through multilateral assistance. Additionally, Uttarakhand, which faced significant damage from landslides and cloudbursts, will be provided with necessary assistance. #5 π | Customs Duty on Gold, Silver Reduced; Increased Duty on Telecom PCBAs -To enhance domestic value addition, the customs duty on gold and silver will be reduced to 6%, while the duty on platinum will be lowered to 6.4%. Further reductions in duties for properties purchased by women will also be considered. These measures will also be incorporated as essential components of urban development schemes. #3 π | βΉ1,000 Crore Fund to Expand Space Economy Fivefold -Expanding the space economy fivefold over the next 10 years will continue to be an emphasis. To support this goal, a venture capital fund of βΉ1,000 crore will be established. #4 π | Partnership for Bharat Small Reactors and Advanced Nuclear Tech -The government will partner with the private sector to set up Bharat small reactors, research and develop Bharat small modular reactors, and develop newer technologies for nuclear energy. #5 π | Simplified FDI Rules and Promotion of Rupee for Overseas Investments -Rules and recognition for Foreign Direct Investments (FDIs) will be simplified to facilitate their inflow.
